How do you clean filter cartridges?

There are cartridge cleaner wands you can buy. They are fairly inexpensive. At the end of the season give them a good soak in a TSP solution and rise well before putting them away.

I wouldn't. It foams. That is why TSP is used.
Dishwasher detergent doesn't foam. It's for the dishwasher not the same as dawn for the sink. What’s your thoughts?

I’m going make a water pressure wand that goes inside filter and cleans the right way. I don’t like pushing the dirt deeper

Dishwasher detergent is fine too.
I just checked on here, I’m not the only nut looking to clean these filter the correct way. I don’t like washing the filter from out to in as your pushing the dirt in. I saw a video guy made a wand with a 360 water spout head connected to hose. It pushes the dirt out. I will use dishwasher detergent
You can also use a granular phosphate free dishwasher detergent

instead of a hot tub filter cleaner. Automatic dishwasher detergent is designed to cut through grease and oil without promoting foam or suds which is ideal for pool applications. The only concern with automatic dishwasher detergent would be the presence of phosphates which most detergents have. Phosphates are very bad for swimming pools and you should avoid using a detergent cleaner that has phosphates in it as no amount of rinsing of the filter will fully remove the phosphates.

Not really. The filter stopped the particles so they are on the filter paper. When you flush them from the outside, the dirt they have collected runs off in the water stream. I think you are over-thinking the cleaning of the cartridges. I used the above and around 30-45 minutes later all 4 of my cartridges look brand-new. Also I am not sure how dirty you think these cartridges get. Have you ever cleaned a set before? They are under constant pressurized chlorinated water so what is on them is sanitized. In reality it is "clean dirt".

. You are so right. This morning I woke up and said to my self, im overthink this, I’m not making that wand pressure tip. Funny you said that.

Take a simple nozzle and you spray downward at 45 degrees...I first make a mixture of water bleach and TSP in pump up sprayer..soak the cartridge and spray away...they're white when I'm done...I also hose-out the bottom filter canister..as stated, lot's of CL has gone through the filters so it's just removing the small particulates

Also, search hairnets on here - if you use them, your cleaning time will be tons less...

I cleaned the filters about 10 times already in 3 years but never used and dishwasher stuff or spray. I did a 10 percent Clorox east only. I wash with hose - top working down. They come out clean. What I did buy at Home Depot this morning was the cascade dishwasher with no phosphate. 12x strong and a better hose end that sprays out like fingers. We had night pollen this year. When I was cleaning the filters last week all this greasy yellow stuff was stuck deep in the V filter. That’s when I said I need something better then water pressure
