Hey everyone!

Looking to build a wall with sheer decent waterfall. I cannot use cinder block because it Is a very narrow space, about 18 inches of concrete and I did not have footings poured. I'm looking for it to be about 5-6 feet in length. Do I just frame it in wood or metal? Then put cement board on top of that? Than tile?

Thanks for the input! The pool builder already ran the pipe.

About 1.5 feet

I'm confused then, why can't you use cinder blocks? Only thing thinner, with structural support would be a brick wall. But with a cinder block you can surround the pipe coming out of the ground. Can you post pics of the area? Also are you planning on building your own sheer descent or using a commercially available one like Jandy makes? For 6 feet of sheer descent you are going to need a lot of water. A single pump may not be enough depending on what you want your sheer to look like. You may end up needing a booster/feature pump.

I just meant the wall 6 feet not the actual descent. Probably 2-3 feet descent. I was just going to order one online. I'll post a picture when I get home.

I thought the weight of the cinder block would be to much since it's just the 1.5 ft coping, there is no cement behind the coping. The wall will be on top of the cement coping with no footings.

Ah ok I see it is a structural issue not a space issue. I am not really sure what your coping and bond beam can take as far as weight. Cinder blocks are not that heavy though. Here is mine with both a sheer descent and a rock waterfall. Nothing special was done for the sheer but the rock waterfall has an appropriate foundation.

How far of a fall to the water will your sheer water be dropping?

We don’t really care for our sheer decent waterfall so much as the drop is far enough that the water slaps the pool surface very hard when it gets there. Wish we’d have know that ahead of time.

You might want to do something different like a sheer rain waterfall. All sorts of choices! Some are lighted as well.

Haven't really thought of that maybe 2-3 feet. What would you say is optimal?
I can't really give a recommendation because my sample size with them is '1'. However, I can tell you our 5' long sheer waterfall drops from the 36" raised beam we have. Be nice if others with shear waterfalls could give you their two cents. We would not do it again & that position wouldn't even require a second of rethink.

We have a feature wall with a three sheer descents in our pool. They are only on when we are entertaining or the kids want something to play with. That being said I'm still waiting for the lighting to be fixed so I can how it looks at night. Our height is roughly two feet, and isn't slapping the water when it is flowing. Here is the feature wall with the three descents:
