Recently, (last couple of weeks) I started seeing these clusters of eggs popping up here and there on my liner surfaces and any equipment that had been in the pool and wasn't thoroughly cleaned. When i would see them i would use cleaning spray or insect spray and remove them. Well i cleaned some off on Friday night (7/30) and on Monday (8/2) I walked out to the pool and i couldn't believe what i saw! There were egg clusters EVERYWHERE! ( I am itching so bad right now thinking about it!) The liner, the poles, the ladder and thousands had hatched and were crawling all over! I've had a hard time trying to find out what the eggs were but i think i have it narrowed down to bagworms or some kind of moth. I shocked the heck out of the pool that night and sprayed NEEM Oil all over what i saw on liner etc. the next day there were tons of the tiny hatched worm things in the skimmer and the ones i sprayed with NEEM Oil seemed to be dead. But i missed some when spraying the ladder down so there we a bunch on the ladder still. And then i saw them all over my vacuum equipment and pole. (Picture) I need some help/advice on how to get rid of and keep them away. Or just any kind of guidance im so overwhelmed i don't know what to do next! Thank you in advance for any help or info given.20210804_124234.jpg

I've seen this before but not to this extent, that's bad. What I've done in the past is burn the bagworms off the tree. Dangerous & fun. If done during "burn ban", the Fire Marshall will complicate your life, ( I know ) The following year (spring) I sprayed the surrounding ground, trunk & primary branches with Malathion insect spray. If you used this before you know the risk. If not, read direction/precautions carefully.

"What happens to malathion when it enters the body?

In both humans and animals, malathion travels to the liver and kidneys and affects the nervous system. Generally, the body can break down malathion and remove it quickly. Studies in rats showed that most malathion was gone from their bodies within a day of exposure."
So that being said. This stuff work. It will convince the Lil buggers to go to the next tree or next door.
As far as the here & now, kill them, kill them all.:devilish:

How do i go about killing them now? just continue spraying them with NEEM Oil, scrape them off and discard them? What can i spray around the pool or what can i do to just to get to the end of the season and close the pool down?

I'm assuming that the tree branches are close by. Go ahead & spray the bags on the branches (or burn, your choice) & kill what you can but the mess of dead worms/eggs will still persist. If it were me, close up & make sure you do preventive control early spring & avoid late summer infestation. Neem or Malathion works.

just scrape the eggs off with a scotch scrubby or whatever, use dish detergent and water to clean it

you could probably spray with same mixture. some people put dawn detergent in the pool for other reasons, so a little in the water won't hurt anything.

I just read it the other day, but dang if I can remember - probably also insect related. like a cup for a whole pool. I have bee problems in the spring but finally this year they have mostly learned to use their own wading pool that I have had set up for at least 5 years. bees are kinda stupid.
