Heat Pump Inside a huge factory Space

I have installed an above ground pool inside a very large factory space. Pool is 27,000 gallons and factory is 60,000 square feet with a ceiling height of 24 feet. There is an adjacent "hallway" space to the main factory floor that is over 200 feet long by 30 feet wide with a 12 foot ceiling that is open and adjacent to the main factory floor described above. There is plenty of air circulation including fresh air "air movers" bring outside air into the building when needed. The building in the winter time has never dropped below 65 degrees Fahrenheit and when needed can be heated. (sorry for so much detail on the space but wanted you to get an idea of the volume of air space I have).

I want to heat the pool with a heat pump. Here's my question: given the huge volume of air space can I install a 140,000 BTU heat pump indoors in the "hallway" space described above and it function properly?

I think I know what you are saying but the best thing to do would be to take some pics and share them. Make sure to show the "fresh air movers" so we know for sure what you are working with. Also make note of where the heater will be in relation to the air movers.

Do you usually drive forktrucks around, the propane kind? Are there other sources of CO,like fired ovens or torches etc?

If so, you should be OK. If not, theres probably a reason.

Still, I would do my burning outdoors.

As long as you follow the manufacturers recommendations, and the local inspectors preferences.
I have put a lot of unit heaters into large barns/buildings etc.
I always run a vent for the exhaust outdoors, and make sure there is plenty of fresh air for the unit(s).

Thanks for your reply. I forgot to mention - the heat pump will be electric. The warehouse is re-purposed as a dog training and event facility. No propane or CO - but do have 6 200,000 BTU gas heaters mounted from the ceiling to heat during the winter time.

Here is an image of the space where the pool equipment is located. In the ceiling you can see the "fresh Air" movers. There are two of these units in this space. The other side of the wall is 30K sqft of open space next two another 25K sqft of open space all of which is connected through large open roll up doors which never closed. (I will post additional pictures of the space) So...do you feel this is enough space to operate an electric Hayward 140K heat pump without problems?

For starters, WELCOME TO TFP!!

A heat pump sounds ideal to me for what you’re suggesting. You shouldn’t need to worry about gases as there isn’t any burning going on. I’d also still suggest a cover during the winter as you will likely still lose a good bit of heat in the cold.
