Hayward tristar reviews anyone???

Did Hayward say that your pump was covered by a 3 year warranty?

Do you have paperwork that says 3 year warranty?

These are correct. But the one error I made was that both the 900 & 950 both had 4 yr warranties. Only the 950 has the 4 yr warranty which Rob pointed out to me.

Rob, if you got the 1.85 at that price w a 3 yr warranty for a $250 install, you came out way ahead of the dealer channel and install on top of that...I also like your UV screen. I was in Chandler over our Spring Break March 2018, and it was getting hot already...you guys are smok'in hot now and by Aug-Sept you'll be micro-wave hot...just by removing that direct sun will protect your plastics and keep your motor from baking...motor fans don't help that much when the air being removed is cooler than the ambient air :)

As Mark pointed out in a post, he asked if users Ecostar's were being run at the 3450RPM speeds due to the heat build up on the motor...seems to me running something at 2500RPM in 110-115 degree ambient temp is pretty brutal...I don't see how single speeds running at 3450 rpms' all the time in that temp in a desert climate can last? my pool temps are getting to the mid-high 80's now while 3 weeks ago they were in the mid 70's...

Oh yeah, we’re cookin over here. I saw all the damage that was done to the old equipment and there was no way I was going to let that happen to the new stuff. Just protecting my investment. The temp dropped 15 degrees from being exposed to the sun vs the shade. I shot the motor housing before and after install to get a reading.

Some how this thread went from a simple asking people’s opinions on the TriStar line from the OP, to me having to defend my purchase. Don’t know how that happened, but I do know my fingers are tired and I need a friggin drink!!!

Hayward was very clear that the expert line was only sold through dealers and not available online. This was more than likely to keep consumer confidence by offering the 4 year warranty. This is where I run into the proverbial brick wall as to get reliable stats as to the 2.7's longevity. I know it's just another $1000 bucks give or take but no one is saving money on power consumption if we are constantly replacing/repairing pumps. Are Pentair VS pumps having similar issues? Might be better off pairing lower hp single speed motor, proper pump flow and running longer times. Just a thought.
thanks guys

Hire a life guard and cook and you can join A-Rob  If you have more than 1 8th grader coming over, you'll need it.

If I may, this is where I purchased our TriStar SP3202VSP along with the Intermatic PS3000 SPD. The free S&H, no tax minus the $200 rebates from my local electric company makes the deal even sweeter for me. I installed the pump myself and could care less about the warranty, if any! In fact, I can't wait for the drv controller to die just to find out if this particular drv controller shares the same power hybrid IC that made the Ecostar model so famous! To date, my quest in search for solid leads with regards to this matter yields empty. If my VS pump died beyond economical repair, then I'll just look somewhere else.

My TriStar is only 1 year old and it replaced the 17 year old single speed that just won't die. Although subjective, my TriStar runs louder than my old single speed. And undeniably runs much, much louder at higher speeds compared to my neighbor's Pentair VS pump. A month ago, my other next door neighbor had his single speed replaced with a SP32950VSP by his PB. It was installed on the far side of his house and I have no way of knowing how loud it runs.
