Our Hayward Super Pump has a loud, squealing noise when it starts up. It's been running 24/7 for almost a week due to the extreme cold. I let it rest today since it was in the 40s, but when I went to start it up again tonight, it made that horrible sound.

From my search of the forum, it sounds like it's the bearings. I'm not sure how old it is but it has to be at least 6-7 years old.

What's the best fix for this situation? Do we rebuild, replace the motor, or get a whole new pump?

Who can replace the bearing if we decide to go that route?

Thanks

That looks like a W3SP2607X10...but may not be. Can you post a picture of the label on the motor (the one lower in the picture above)? Can you also post a picture of the label on the plastic part of the pump so we can get a model number? Both will help with making any recommendation.

If it only makes the squealing noise at startup it is probably not a bearing problem.

How long does the sound last and how does the pump sound after it runs for a while?

I would wait until things warm up and sees how the pump sounds.

Sorry, don't have a good pic of the label on the motor, but looks like it says: K48AB23A04

It lasted about 30 seconds after I started it.

It has had a bit of a grinding noise for a while. Kind of like something is rattling around inside, but nothing as bad as what I heard tonight.

See how it sounds once things warm up.

You can get months or years more out of the pump the way it is.
