Hayward pool filter replacement

My pool is approximately 15 years old. The OE cartridge filter, a Hayward C5520CP, just cracked. Of the current ones out there, which one would be the most comparable, and the simplest to install (pipes lining up to fittings, etc) based on the current 5520?

Thanks in advance!

Yikes. There is no manual nor parts available for that filter...that I can find.

I would call hayward and ask them if there is a direct replacement.

I believe that your filter has the manifold on the bottom of the tank and the filter outlet is the lower one on the outside. Newer Hayward filters are reversed from that, outlet is the top port.

That's going to be a major pain when I replace it. There's no spare plumbing to cut into to move things around. All the valves are bumped right up against one another. 😡😡

What was the purpose of swapping them?

Post a few pics of the filter and plumbing around it.

You can use a "socket saver" type tool to ream the pipe out of valves and fittings.

Bottom manifold had the habit of collapsing if the filter pressure was allowed to run high for too long. There are also support rods in the manifold that would puncture the cartridges, ruining them. Made for an expensive repair.

Bougainvillea are the bain of many pool owners existence.
I have none in my yard, but seems all my neighbors Bougainvillea bracts end up in my pool and yard.

Some pics from further back and from different angles so we can see the entire pad might be better. We need to see all the plumbing and any spaces around the filter.
