Hayward c900 High psi with cartridge in?

I have a Hayward c900 filter

my pool is clear I just refilled

when I run without a cartridge
the jets and everything work fine around 5psi but when I put in a cleaned cartridge it’s running at 25psi and my jets aren’t blowing strong at all

but the good thing is my aqua rite is not illuminating the red no flow after draining and refilling

I hate to say it but maybe it's not as clean as you think or it's not replaced correctly?
How old is the cartridge?

Its new the thing it can possibly be is my breather tube is missing I’m not sure if this will affect it

I cable tied my breather tube to the main vertical stem so it stays in place when I raise and lower my cartridge in the shell. I'd fix it if were mine. Home Depot probably has a tube that would work.

Is the filter or the pool new?? I ask because it could be that they plumbed it in backwards.. We have seen it before...

Filter is new. Like I said when i take out the cartridge pressure is optimal everything flowing perfect, then i plug filter in and boom back to 25psi and very little to no pressure from return jets.

Still nothing filter is clean and I'm still getting 25 psi

Side note - Aqua Rite showing flow. Skimmer also works without cartridge filter.

Please double check that the input and output ports on the filter are connected correctly...

Jim,

I have the main drain open and the skimmer is off. & No the filter is not plumbed backwards.
Everything is working its just the PSI shoots to 25 anytime the filter is in it.

It sure does not sound right to me!!!... I would think a clean cartridge would not add more than 5 psi to the overall pressure....

How about a picture of your equipment pad.....??

What type and HP pump do you have??

Was it ever ok? Did it just start doing this after you replaced or cleaned your cartridge? Did you just hose off your cartridge or did you soak it in some chemical mixture???

I cleaned it again and it went to 22 PSI when i started it and back up to maintaining at 25. The no flow light is off on my aqua rite but there is nothing coming out of the return jets so i just turned off my pump. I can see in the pumps skimmer basket it has good suction and a lot of water flowing but nothing in the return jets and a consistent 25psi
