Was thinking of switching over to these style cartridge as it looks like it will filter smaller particles 3 vs 10 to 15 micron and also no cleaning just replace. My only concern is if these filter smaller particles it could possibly clog up quicker.

I couldn’t find any pricing to compare against regular ones.
Regular cartridge filters can last 10 years with proper care before needing replacement

I could. For my Pentair C&C420, the Clorox one-time-use filters are $50 each, while Pleatco cleanable filters -- even now, after the Pentair acquisition -- are only a little more expensive at $70.

That doesn’t seem like a very good deal to go the disposable route.

Paul,

They think all pool owners are idiots and change their cartridges each year...

If you can't clean them how would it possible for them to last longer??

Cartridges should last 7 to 10 years and maybe longer.

If your pool is not crystal clear, the problem is NOT the filter.

Thanks,

Jim R.

I was thinking maybe they last longer than the typical type need cleaning. If that is the case I would definitely consider. I ran my current filter set 24/7 for almost 2 years straight. They were pretty dirty but not causing much pressure increase maybe from 12 to 15 psi. I ended up just tossing them as I had a spare set I haven't used yet.

My thought is if I can realistically get 2 years out of these I would switch over.

If you can see particles in your pool, it's the wind's fault, not the filter. They may take days to find the filter, as they sit suspended and don't move much. By the time they do find the filter, it was breezy again and there's more to take their sweet time getting out.

If you can see haze in your pool, it's your fault for not sanitizing or filtering enough.

The only time it's the filters fault is if the filter is broken, such as torn cartridges or broken laterals. Then the filter media isn't working to its capabilities, allowing you to see the difference in water quality.
