Hey guys!

We just moved into a house with a 40 year old gunnite pool, and it needs resurfacing.

The vendors around here install WetEdge, Fibre Tech, Diamond Brite, and EcoFinish - I'm sure I could get Marcite as well if I wanted. My head is SPINNING with all the options. I've tried searching, and I've read everything on here I can find, but I feel like I'm still having trouble finding owner reports on longetivity or other pros/cons. Any recent experience/recommendations would be so helpful, thank you!!

I am not familiar with Fibre Tech but the other 3 are widely used by members on the forum. I have WetEdge and very pleased with it. Of course I did my remodel before COVID so prices were reasonable.
The main advice is to ensure you do a full chip out of the existing plaster. It is labor intensive but really is the best way to ensure your new plaster adheres to the gunite shell.
Longetiivity is subjective - do you want 10 yrrs or 15 yrs or longer? A lot will also depend on the balancing of the water over time.
Using TFP methodology works for the vast majority of us and therefore picking either of these plasters will be good.

I had Ecofinish Aquabright installed in 2017 and I'm very happy about it. It still looks the same as it did 7 years ago.

I would only put fiberglass (FiberTech) in a gunite pool as a last resort. Having said that, there are lots of posts on this forum about failed Aquabrite resurfacing (and indeed, regular plaster resurfacing). It's a crapshoot.
Good references are key for jobs that were done a few years back as well as recent resurfacings. As stated above, push for a full chip out of the old plaster (they likely won't want to do this and will try to dissuade you with a ridiculously high price).
