I am wondering if anyone knows of an alarm or way to detect water in the overflow drain of a glacier cooler. I am wanting to start running my cooler overnight, but I am concerned about not detecting a possible overflow that could drain the pool below the skimmers. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have the same concern and recently posted about this question and am waiting for answers. My current solution is using an intelliflo3 pump to automatically shut down the pump with its prime air detection feature. Thoughts?

Are you talking about the loss of prime feature? I was unaware of this until you mentioned it. Sounds like that would be a good feature to turn on to keep the pump from running when there is no water. It would be useful if the water level dipped below the skimmers

I am looking for something by that can detect water if it ever enters into the cooler overfill drain pipe. Something more than an audible alarm, something that can alert my phone. I haven’t found anything yet that is less than $700. I’m hoping someone else with one of these coolers has figured out a way to do this without costing a lot.

Yes. I’m referring to the loss of prime feature. At least that way you can only loose water under below skimmers without destroying your pool pump. As far as I’m aware there is no overflow drain on the glacier. The water just flows over the edges of the basin. It does have a main drain but that’s just used to drain the cooler out to clean it.

There actually is an overflow drain outlet. I haven’t plumbed it yet because I am still searching for a device that can detect water flow thru the overflow drain and alert me.

The water can also flow over the edges, but I’m hoping to catch it before it gets to this pointimage.jpg

Can you use an HVAC float switch?
