Gauge glycerin leak

No but your not supposed to remove that or fiddle with it. That gauge should only be installed in the vertical configuration so that gauge face is facing the operator.

Well it’s in the horizontal position. Do I need to buy the other gauge? The one I replaced was also in the wrong configuration.

If the port for the gauge is in the horizontal position (sticking out towards the user), then you need a gauge with a rear facing threaded connector. Otherwise the glycerin could leak out of the gauge.

As Matt said, it should be mounted vertically. You could try using a 1/4" street elbow or a nipple and 90* elbow to mount it vertically.

Matt:
Not to question your wisdom, but i personally do fiddle with the little plunger. Since i have a VSF pump and run low pressures, the barometric changes can affect readings on the low range, sometimes up to 1 lbs. I do this once a week to equalize pressures, im a little OCD.

Agreed. With large temperature changes you need to open it occasionally to equalize. When I got mine, when summer hit it leaked a lot out when I opened it. The first one had a rubber tip I had to cut off so it would vent, I think the one I have now has the little metal plunger you can open and close.

Does the one you use have a small metal plunger in it ?
