I should have posted this as the remodel was done, but i haven't been active on this forum, so i thought i would share my experience and details of our recent remodel.

In november, we started getting quotes on a coping/tile/replaster along with new lighting and an updated(to code) main drain. Quotes were anywhere from $16,500 to $24,000. The contractor at the absolute bottom didn't have the best looking reference photos, so I decided to go with the second-cheapest option based on previous work and overall pricing.

The first quote was around $17,000 and included some basic work, but as these projects go it escalated pretty quickly. The original quote neglected the updated drain and that was a decision I made later on in the process along with adding a pentair screenlogic setup and raising(6")/tiling of our spa. Total "out the door" cost was $25,100. Work was done by Top Tier Pools here in the kingwood area. Danny, the owner, was here every day while they were working on the pool to ensure progress was happening satisfactorily. Total time from demo to finish was about 2 1/2 weeks.

I don't have a ton of "before" photos, but this is a pretty decent example of what the pool looked like previously:

Likely the original bullnose red brick coping, white plaster, and tile that was in really, really rough shape. In addition, the spa light was so corroded, i couldn't successfully replace the bulb(but i had florida sunseeker bulbs in the pool itself for a little bit of light)

I more or less conciously "let the pool go" knowing i would be having it remodeled, so some algea was able to party for a bit before being wiped out in an amazing manner:

This was the result of Day 1: Draining and demo. you can see the original pool builder only had the spa raised about 1", which drove me nuts. It was a cavalcade of gross between the decking and the coping around the spa.

Days 2-4: raising the spa, tile, and coping install. These guys did miracle work raising the spa enough to get some decent tilework around it so it didn't look like the underbelly of mordor around my spa.

They raised and extended the spillway to make it one cohesive piece:

Waterline tile is NPT artistry in mosaics GC82348T2, spa/accent tile is NPT Travetine split face Scabos

This was an interesting decision by the builder to "break up" this raised area where my sprayers are. It's a bit busy, but i think it'll grow on me.

Same day, the electrician came in and wired up the pentair controller. He had to run a new power line from my main panel to the control panel through my backyard.
