Flocculant to reduce calcium hardness

I am new to pool care. I have successfully balanced my pool and it is crystal clear compared to the pond it was a week ago. I am on a well and my water hardness is well beyond extremely hard. Partial draining and refilling of my water will not help. Since I have a Cartridge filter I am not sure if I can use a flocculant to lower my harness. I am not able to bypass my Cartridge when vacuuming. If I can't flock it, any other suggestions. Thank you for your help :)

Welcome to the forum! :handshake:

No. Calcium hardness can be removed by replacing the high CH water with lower CH water or by using Reverse Osmosis. That is it.

Some folks in high CH areas use softened water as make up water after the pool is filled. That way they do not build CH in the water. If you use high CH water to fill the pool due to evaporation, your CH rises.

I have that issue. Our fill water is ~270 ppm CH. After one year, due to evaporation, my CH is now 625 ppm.

Happy to have you on the forum.

Take care.
