Flex-pipe from pump to filter sprung a leak. How to fix?

I've never worked with PVC flex or solid piping before. I tried using self-bonding silicone tape but it didn't work due to the water pressure in that line. I need step-by-step instructions on how to replace the flex-pipe from Hayward pump to sand filter. The leak is located right next to where the pipe meets the connection at the filter. Is it possible to fix it by cutting just the damaged side of the pipe before the hole and reattaching to the existing connector or even a new connector, and/or fitting extender?

Replace the pipe and the fitting. Extenders don't work with flex pipe. Rigid is always better.

Not too difficult. You need 2 1.5" male pipe adapters MIP X S. 3 1.5" 90's. A 1.5" PVC union would go a long way to making the install easier. Some Teflon tape and silicone sealant (small tube). Don't thread the pipe adapters all the away into the pump nor MPV (like they are now). I like about 6 wraps of tape and a little silicone to seal. Leave about three threads showing when tight. Probably 8' of pipe, but they come in 10' sticks so just get a full stick.
