This year I finally decided to do something about my sad looking backyard! I am installing a vinyl liner inground pool, and I am trying to figure out how to make it a nice outdoor area without spending too much …. I was roped into building a circular brick “thing” by my mother years ago which she was going to use for “flowers” (which never happened by the way 😂)…. Now I am thinking about turning it into a fire pit….. I am wondering if I can make a dual fuel pit (wood burning and lpg)…. I think there might be time when I won’t want to take the time/effort to burn wood, but I still would like a fire….. I have a free standing wood burning pit that I thought I could put in the middle, and the put some burners with lava rocks or glass surrounding that pit…….. is that doable???

When I saw hour first pic of the stone circle putting an "real" fire pit in the middle of it. My guts says you plan just may work and be pretty as well. Now how you will put the ring and such in the fire pit it beyond me. Might be best to see if anyone you know works in propane to make sure it is safe!

Thank you for the reply. We are in the same boat 😂 logistically I think it works, but I want to get some opinions about whether or not it is safe!…… my idea for the ring is to buy straight or already curve stainless steel burner ( as supposedly it is easy to bend), an create the circle an hopefully find a way to link them together in leave the separate 😁😁

Honestly, I don't see why not.

I am not sure how good it would look, with either a ring of fire with a dead space in the middle, or fire in the middle with a ring of rock around it.

I would say, make sure your LPG shut of is far enough away from the real fire.

Likely you are going to have to make your own burner, because usually they are either spirals, or multiple concentric rings, because nobody wants that dead spot in the middle
