Filter cleaning in 2024... There must be a better way...

I'm trying to find an easier/faster way to clean my filter cartridges. I've used various garden hose attachments/sprayers (filter flosser), but the process is still very slow/tedious.

It seems like there are two commercial products out there that kinda automate/simplify things...

The "Blaster 2000"...

...but it seems like you need to let it spin for several minutes, which isn't really enough time to go back in the house and do anything (before you have to walk back outside to put on the next cartridge). And according to the reviews it really depends on your water pressure.

Then there is the "Cyclone" filter cleaner...

...If you have a good hose/pressure washer, it looks like you can manually spray an entire filter pretty fast, but 300 dollars for a glorified umbrella stand is a bit too much.

So I started researching DIY solutions and came across these...

Vertical spinner...

Horizontal spinner...

Anyone have any experience building something like this? Or perhaps you've discovered something even better? Again, trying to minimize time, effort, and bending over/back strain.

Thanks!

A pressure washer can damage the cartridges if you aren't careful.

I clean my cartridges once a year using the Filter Flosser.
It takes about 1 hour total for all 4 cartridges.
I do it in the early spring, before it gets too hot in AZ.

The more I look at that one DIY video...

The more I want to build something like that. But I need something that is free standing, so I can use it out in my yard, not right next to my house. And it would be nice if it could be less wobbly...

So maybe starting with a umbrella stand for a solid base...

But then he is using garage door pullys that only fit a flimsy 3/8" rod...

I'm archaic. Cheap and lazy I guess. :) Just cleaned by cart a couple minutes ago (yeah, single cart - I know). :hammer: Pressure nozzle cleaner with cart on top of a 5 gal (upside down) bucket. Spray and done. Once in a great while I might deep soak a cart in a trash can with some TSP or Cascade powder, but that's about it.

Hello pool family - I just wanted to tell everyone my secret for cleaning a filter- I went to Walmart but you could possibly get it from Amazon for cheaper - I purchased a portable batting T - ( this is a tripod for baseball batting ) it’s been a life saver and only 15$ I recommend using this and because it’s portable and folds up and extends it’s awesome for anyone no more bending over- the tripod works in various heights - the screw on mine makes it so I can stand any height and clean the filter - I always sprayed filter cleaner on my filter and walked away for a few hours - when I returned the gunk came right off

- Please don’t be sucked into purchasing a filter cleaner stand for hundreds of dollars - when you can make your own for 15 - when you broaden yourself to look in markets you don’t always, u would amazed how simplified your life becomes and how much $ you save. I never buy pool items from any pool section- I’m a person who will pay bare minimum before I take from my children’s education- best of luck to all reading this-
Pool life- it’s a way of life
Kindly,
Nicole
