Hello! I live in Dallas, TX. The weather is starting to get a little cooler here (low's in the high 30's or low 40's). I am curious what people do as far as FCL during the colder months. I run a SWG and CYA is around 80. I know that the recommended level per the TFP chart is 6-11PPM of FCL - but I am wondering if most people will go lower than the low end during winter months? Thanks!

Hkd,

Once the water gets too cold for the SWCG, it does not take much Liquid Chlorine to keep the FC at where ever you want it..

I try to keep my FC in my Target range for my CYA, but with the water being cold, I doubt you would be in much trouble if you went lower.

Thanks,

Jim R.

When it gets below 50F here and my SWG shuts off, I usually don't ever need to add any CL because the extinction rate is so low at those temperatures plus I can usually get away with much lower FC/CYA ratios without any algae showing up.
