Extend bonding wire

Hi All! My pool equipment has never been bonded correctly and although I've never had any problems with it, I figured it's time to address the issue. I have one bonding wire that comes out of the ground near my pump but it's not long enough to reach the bonding clamp. I would probably need another 12 inches of wire. My heater is about 4 feet from my pump and also not connected to any bonding wires. Can I simply buy a wire and connect it to the existing wire, my pump, and heater? Is it just standard copper? It looks pretty thick - anyone know what standard gauge for bonding wire is? Do I need special connectors?

Sorry lots of questions for probably a simple problem. Thanks in advance for any help provided!

This is similar to what is being used around my pad, and what I plan to use to extend my bond wire to my SWG transformer. Does this look right? Is this a "copper split bolt?"

Scratch that, just looked it up. This is a copper split bolt:

I plan to polish the copper wires a bit where they will touch. They'll tarnish again, right quick, but it'll at least look like a better electrical connection, for awhile...
