I might be over thinking this but after spending some time on this forum I have come to realize there are many things I don't know or things I didn't consider.
That being said I'm looking to hide my pool equipment with a 4 ft high vinyl fence. I was thinking something like this: Veranda Pro Series 4 ft. x 6 ft. Woodbridge Privacy Unassembled Vinyl Fence Panel-244644 - The Home Depot
The equipment would be enclosed in an "L" with a gate on the open end. I thinking maybe leaving a 2 ft gap between the equipment and the fence?
Are there other things I should consider, or best practice resources I can look into for designing this enclosure?

I don't think you're overthinking it at all. A fence would surely give some esthetic concealment, and perhaps some security to keep pets and children away. Just be sure to leave yourself enough room for future maintenance on the pad. Also watch to ensure you don't hit any pool lines when digging down for your footings.

I'm curious if you had ever considered an actual covered pad? Whether the equipment is in the bitter cold of MA or scorching heat of AZ, a cover or shelter also has its benefits - space permitting. Figured I'd toss that out there.
