Dolphin S200 pool cleaner keeps shutting off after a few seconds

Hi all! We've had our Dolphin S200 robot cleaner for a little less than 2 years and it just started acting up. When we turn it on it will turn off shortly thereafter. I've cleaned it out well so that's not the issue. When I take it out of the pool, turn it upside down and turn it on, the left track seems to not be gripping the gear very well every few seconds, but then catches/snaps back in place again. This repeats over and over again every few seconds. I'm guessing all we need to do is to replace the track?

I believe it's under a 2 year warranty so I called the store we bought it from but they said it's going to be a couple weeks before they can even take a look at it. Yikes! After waiting that long they may say it's the track needing to be replaced which is not covered under warranty, then we have wasted a couple weeks waiting on them telling us what we could have fixed ourselves rather quickly.

I uploaded a video below so you can see if I'm on the right track of getting this thing fixed (pun intended :ROFLMAO:)

Video of track not catching (you should be able to see the left track popping out while the right stays in place)

Do you think it's highly likely this is the issue? Is it normal to have to replace it in less than 2 years time (we do run it almost daily May-Sept)?

Any recommendations on where the best place to buy replacement tracks is? All I see online is them costing $50--wow!

Ks,

Just in the last week or so, my 2 year old S200 did something similar.. I went over to the rent house where the robot is, and found that it had thrown one of the tracks. I pulled it out of the pool, put the track back on, and stuck it back in the pool. Unfortunately, it would just move a few inches and then stop.. The tracks had cracks in them, so I ordered a set... After I installed the new tracks, it has been running fine... It has only been a few days since I installed the new tracks, but so far, so good..

Thanks,

Jim R.

Where did you order yours from? Everywhere seems to have slow shipping on this part

ks,

Marina Pool and Spa on-line..

They were about $50 bucks a set...

Thanks,

Jim R.
Jim,
For those of us who are less mechanically inclined... Does Marina Pool help service the units if you purchase from them or do you need to reach out to the manufacturer to have the unit fixed?

Jersey,

I suspect they service what they sell, but I really do not know for sure what else they do..

As far as replacing the belts on an S200 it is about a three minute job and takes no mechanically skills at all.. The S200 "style" robots are made for DIY repair..

Which is huge step up from their older robots which required a Masters in Mechanically Engineering, the willingness to lose about a pint of blood from all the bruised and busted knuckles, and the ability to cuss in at least two languages...

Thanks,

Jim R.
