Diamond Brite vs. AquaBright

 Welcome!

Marcite is a typical type pool plaster that uses marble as the aggregate. Marble is known to be soft and easily reacts to less than ideal water chemistry.

Diamond Brite uses quartz as the aggregate which is nearly impervious to typical pool chemistry levels but it is still a cementitious pool surface that is subject to a whole slew of potential issues if not installed and maintained correcty.

AquaBright is an inert thermoplastic pool coating that can be placed on top of your existing marcite surface. AB is completely inert, waterproof and is unaffected by water chemistry.

Thank you for replying, Brian.

Could you please expand on potential issues with Diamond Brite? I have to assume that it will be installed correctly. WRT maintenance, I've been maintaining my pools for 20 years, so I'd like to think that I'm doing OK. Well, I admit I let TA to drop to 70-80 before I act on it, and my PH is typically too high around 8 despite weekly additions of acid. Maybe my habits are too slack. Will this be a problem with Diamond Brite?

With AquaBright otoh, you sound like there's no way it can go wrong and I can have a truly trouble free pool for a long time. That's an attractive proposition! Btw, someone suggested in another thread that with AquaBright I don't need tiles. Could you comment on it? I've seen a few pictures and it seems like people do use tiles anyway.
