DE or leslie Instant Conditioner

Hi Sunny! Welcome to TFP.

Before I can answer your question I need to ask you some questions.

Why do you think you need some conditioner?

What kind of filter do you have?

Why do you think you need to add any DE?

Hi KimKat,
Thanks For the response.

Why do you think you need some conditioner?
The lady in Leslie tested water and told CYA is low and ask to add Conditioner

What kind of filter do you have?
We have Jandy Cartridge Pool Filter
.

Why do you think you need to add any DE?

As per the pool service company who came last time to change the leaky valve told me to Add DE everytime I do Backwash.

Full stop! If you have a cartridge filter you do NOT need or want to add any DE. Now chances are you have a DE filter with you being able to do a backwash but................

I am going to back you up a couple of steps to make sure we both know what is what with your pool.

Can you please go out to your equipment with a paper and pen. Write down model names and any other info you can find on your pump and filter. If you can take and share a pic of it all that would also be very helpful.

Do not add anything yet.

How is your water looking right now?

Kim:kim:

Yes It's DE filter. Sorry I tho cartridge and DE both same. Water looks clean. Recently our pool was green after cleaning leslie suggested to do put conditioner. Attached the Pic with Valve position as it is right now.

Thanks in Advance.

Okay so now we are on the same page. I am going to share a link with you just so you can learn about the different filters if you want to: Pool School - Pool Filter Comparison as I love learning and teaching new things.

So do you know how to do a back wash? Have you added any DE before?

How old is this pool? How long have you owned it?

How do you sanitize your pool now?

I am going to share another link with you. It will show you how we here at TFP take care of our pools ON OUR OWN! No pool service, no pool store testing AND no more over priced pool store chemicals. This will give you a quick snap shot of how we care for our pools TFPC for Beginners

Here is what I am talking about: Leslie's liquid conditioner=$40 (gal.) Now powder conditioner bought from Lowes, Walmart, Target, etc.=$15 (4lbs). Now the powder does take a little longer but it still works.

I also want to talk to you about pool $tore testing (see what I did there? LOL) We have found many, many, many times their "free" testing is not accurate and not really free due to you walking out of there with an armful of stuff and an empty wallet :(

Here is a link to the different test kits: Pool School - Test Kits Compared

The testing is SO easy to do. We have videos as well as written directions to help you do it.

I am hoping we can teach you how to care for your own pool. It will look better than it ever has before!

2 months? Oh yeah in the very early learning stage for sure! Glad you found us so soon!

Okay so lets see what you know:

-Have you done a backwash before?

-How have you been adding chlorine to the pool? Tablets? Bags of powder?

-Do you use a pool service for your weekly pool care?

So I am going to share a pile of links with you right now. They are some I put together for new pool owners. It is a lot of info so take it slow and easy.
