Not sure how to treat this green streek that has come about at the bottom of my pool. My water is perfect except for my chlorine is a bit high.

Leslie Pools is having me Shock it. I’ve brushed with a metal brush and it doesn’t make a difference.

Not sure if you can see it in the picture or not.

Thoughts?

Welcome to TFP.

We recommend you stay out of Leslie and forget everything they told you.

You need a proper test lit - Taylor K-2006C or Test Kits

If your pool is green, you should follow the SLAM process to clear the pool. Link-->SLAM Process

Download PoolMath

When you get your test kit, post your water chemistry here. Your CYA is likely too high, and you need to lower it by draining the pool before the SLAM Process.

^^^ What Allen said.
This probably sounds like a lot to do and buy, lots to read, etc. But this is the way to solve your problem. There are no shortcuts (that work). The shortcut you've been using (Leslie's) doesn't work. You already know that. You need to read up a bit. You need to buy one of the few test kits we recommend. And then you need to follow the advice you get here to the letter. Not just the easy stuff. Not just the cheap stuff. All of it.

We don't debate here. We don't all have different methods. This is a teaching website. We teach only one method of pool water maintenance. And no matter who is guiding you (Allen in this case), we'll all tell you, and teach you, the exact same method.

Because it works.

The good news is, once you get the kit, and follow along with our teachings, you'll find this method to not only be the most effective, but the easiest, and, believe it or not, the cheapest in the long run.

Still have your doubts? Look to the bottom of any page here, and you'll see we have over 400,000 members, all doing the same method, all getting the same great results.

Because it works.

The above bolded areas are a perfect example of Leslie's advice not making any logical sense other than keeping you confused and spending $ at their store. Some key points:
1. If you see algae, your chlorine is not high, its too low. It is very rare that we see someone with too high of chlorine (look at my avatar to see where I like to keep my chlorine)
2. Shock is adding chlorine, which is needed if you have algae, but a direct contradiction of telling someone their chlorine is too high

BTW, welcome. Hopefully you decide to stick around. We can teach you how to take care of your pool yourself, at a fraction of the cost of the pool stores. PS - nobody here makes a dime off of you, you cant say that about most areas of the pool industry, especially pool stores.

Welcome!
No picture yet, so hard to diagnose. Growing algae can be pretty sticky and hard to brush off. But a metal brush is pretty aggressive, so should have had noticeable impact.
It may be some kind of metal staining, staining from organic debris sitting on the bottom, or other.

But first - we need to know much more about your pool, in addition to getting the picture posting figured out.

On this site, over on the left, go to "Settings" and then "Signature"
List out: Pool gallons, rough surface dimensions, ingound or above ground (brand/model of above ground) type of construction (plaster, vinyl liner, etc), added features (spa, waterfall, etc), specific make and model of each of your equipment pieces- pumps, filters, heaters, salt generator, etc. When you get it, which test kit you are using. What form of sanitizer you primarily use (kind of tablets - if any, liquid chlorine, etc.) if no salt generator. You can always go back to edit things if you need to add or change it later.

Get the test kit recommended above. Download to your phone the Pool Math app. You can even link that app to your username here, so we can see all of your entries and then avoid having you retype everything in the responses here.

As to the stain - let us know if Leslie's has had you add anything special somewhat before it appeared - algaecides, clarifiers, phosphorous removers, metal treatments, etc.
