Cool deck or pavers?

I didn't think Kool Deck cracked as much as eventually starts peeling off? Folks do love the way it makes the hottest pool deck walkable though.

Pavers need to be installed correctly, no short cuts. Weeds, I dunno about.

Good luck with your decision. How do they compare cost wise??

We have cool deck. It’s peeling. But we love the way we can walk barefoot even in Palm Springs summers where it gets 122 degrees! We are going to have it reapplied next year

We have light colored pavers in west central Florida (Tampa Bay). They have never been hot to walk on. I replaced some sand this summer, and pull the occasional tiny weed. I like the look. I can't speak to cool deck.

We are in central PA, so I can't attest to how this would be in Jacksonville. I have pavers for 16 years, if you install properly (4 -6" of crushed stone, 2" quarry dust, pavers and finish with sand or better yet polymer sand) they will settle very little and hold up for many years.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both pavers and concrete. In the south, you don't have so much to worry about freezing and thawing as we do on the north. So you may want to take advice from people who live closer to your location.

We used Sundek coating installed by a local company. It was one of the few things that went right with our pool installation. It has not chiped, flaked or peeled in 13 years. The surface is slightly rough to prevent slippage and it does not heat up in the Texas sun.

And they have a lot more options today than 13 years ago.
