Controlling Hayward Super Pump Remotely

Hello!
I am in the process of slowly trying to automate my pool. My first step is to find a way to control my single speed hayward super pump remotely. It is a "dumb" pump in that it simply has on/off. The on off is hooked up to a light switch in a weather proof box on the side of my house. Does anyone know if hayward sells something that can be hooked up to the pump to control it remotely? Or should I simply buy a wifi light switch and install that? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Hayward has various automation systems, 3 that I can think of right now. Any of them will give you the ability to turn on/off the pump on demand or on a schedule along with controlling anything else pool related. They are all pricey and if you already have or are planning on also adding a Hayward SWG that you want to be able to set the schedule and % on in the future...this is your best option. If you simply want to be able to turn the pump and maybe some lights on/off on demand or on a schedule...the WiFi switches are a much cheaper option. I like switches and outlets that are compatible with the "SmartLife" app. I have my whole pool house on it...all the lights inside and out. It's compatible with Alexa too. I have schedules setup for the exterior lights to turn on/off on a schedule.

Here is what the smart life app looks like:

Here is the schedule screen for a light switch: (you can also set brightness if the light and switch are dim-able)

Here is the OmniLogic App...you can literally do anything pool/spa related with this setup:

I am a computer programmer by day...so there was no way that I was not going to automate my pool when I built it. I also knew I was going to have several things that I wanted to be able to control and monitor with my phone. It really depends on how far you want to go. If you want to start with a simple WiFi switch and then decide you want more, you are only out $20 for the switch.

If your pump is connected to 120 volts, your simple switching options are somewhat limited. Most wifi light switches are only rated at 15 amps and require a neutral wire. Check you pump label for max load amps and make sure the switching device can handle the load.

Yes...great advice!

All of my WiFi switches do require a neutral wire and mine are all 15 amp. You can find some 20amp ones...but they are harder to find. You can also add a 20A relay to the circuit and have the switch bring in the relay and all of the load will run through the relay rather than the switch. That may be more than you want to tackle.

Another option is a WiFi pool timer, I have zero experience with these...but it looks like a WiFi version of the manual timer.
