Concerns Adding Bottom Main Drain to AG.

It's wrinkle free so not sure if it's just an optical illusion in the photo.

I installed the bottom gorilla pad but it surely wasn't real thick. I considered the foam floor but figured I'd get a little flex even with tape and then you'd be able to see every crease and it wouldn't turn out good my luck. Plus I didnt want to spend the extra almost $400 it would have cost for the foam floor. I opted for the gorilla pad and am very happy.
I did wall foam because it's a little better than nothing because it will protect the liner a little bit if the wall was to rust or something somewhere. Just something extra and it came in a kit so i'm glad I installed it, Along with the cove pieces. It was all more about uniformity I guess, I'm overall very happy. Sure it's not done by a professional but I'm always the diy guy.
Even took apart my Audi never having worked on one because the dealer wanted too much. I did 5,000 worth of mechanic work for $400 in parts.
If I had to change anything, I may have installed that 2nd return that I wanted to do but I didn't down near the floor just for better recirc.

pools a 27' x 54" not sure I ever mentioned that.

So I needed a new skimmer plate and ended up just buying an entire new unit. Original lasted 20yrs so I figured it was time and I'd have the peace of mind.

Tomorrow comes the plumbing....

So here's the plumbing area. You can see the new main drains come out to a valve where tomorrow hopefully I can finish all the plumbing. My idea was to place the main drain in a large conduit box (Name is ecaping me)
so I could unscrew and turn the valve off and not worry about it getting dirty or anything. We'll see.... Not sure yet.

Filter is a D.E so not a sand. Though I want a two stage but im sure it's overkill for this pool...

I'll take an installed photo tomorrow.

Really hoping to finish it up tomorrow, been working on it around my busy schedule...

So I finally got the pool up and running today. I had to find the time to do the plumbing and clean the filter and assemble it all back together.

It's not straight, but im not a plumber either. haha. It works though! Next step is to clean it all up. Dig it out, place weed material and then paver stones ontop for the pump/filter stand to sit on top of.
Also have to build or buy a box to house that lower main drain valve. A big mistake, I should have brought the valve up above ground. Live and learn.

I added a clean out adapter to the main drain so in the winter I could open it, and suck all the water out after plugging the main drains for winter time.

The small 1/2" line that goes off to the side is a water cooler. It'll spray streams through the air and it cools the water. It's not fast, but overnight it can cool the water 20*f if it gets too hot.

About to go out and finish the tops of the walls and it'll be complete. That water looks refreshing.

Great work on the pool. I am interested to hear how the main drains work out for you and how much time do they save. Please keep us informed over the next several months as you use your pool.
