Can no longer close pump strainer cover due to a stripped thumb screw hole

I just went to clean out the strainer at my pump and when I went to put the cover back on, I was unable to screw in one of the round thumbscrews used to secure the cover. The screw just keeps spinning without tightening. I tried using the other screw, which tightens fine on its own side, and it also did not work on the side with issues. So I imagine the thread has been stripped. I'm guessing this is an irregular pool issue but I can't run my pool until I fasten that lid properly. Any ideas on how to solve this without taking my whole pump off. Some quick ideas I've had are to try a bigger screw or possibly a shorter one as it does seem to go in a bit. Maybe some epoxy? I'll attach images of the pump cover, the screw and the hole it goes into to. Thanks!

Welcome to TFP! I'm not so sure there's a good fix once the plastic housing strips. Using any other piece of hardware may just make the plastic housing hole worse. I suppose there's always the option of a tap & die set and just re-thread it to a new bolt or size. Maybe insert a helicoil to keep the original size? Maybe @JamesW will have a thought.

Thanks for using the forum.
