We signed a contract to build a 600 sq ft gunite pool. Throughout the process I told the Pb that the pool just looked too small. He swore the pool we were getting was larger than average. We never received a blueprint with detailed measurements to check ourselves. I didn’t even know they existed until later on when I joined a Facebook group. On fill day it was only 18K gallons and on our first swim I felt like there was not enough deep end. My question is can square footage of a free form pool? Who can we hire to measure just to see if it’s correct? I feel stupid, taken advantage of, and can’t let it go. I just wanted to love my pool 😔

Hey J !!! Check this out :
Press the up arrow on the left to add as many points that you need to draw your shape to scale. I went to 100 points just for fun. It probably goes even higher. It'll be darn accurate with enough points of measurement. From there multiply your sq ft X your average depth for cubic feet and then multiply that by 7.481 to get your gallons.

It's not going to change anything and the measurements don't tell the story. It's too subjective whether 18k gallons feels too small in the shape that you got. I personally do not like shaped pools for that reason. Everywhere the pool beautifully curves inward is lost swimming real estate compared to a boring rectangle. But the beautiful shapes make it eye candy the 95% of the time that you're looking at it and not swimming.

Thank you! I’ll try this. If I could start over I would totally go rectangle.

They all have their +/-. I kick myself for building a pool meant for swimming that gets looked way more often than not. But when we use it, it's awsome. Whattayagonnado?

Did you need a permit to build the pool? If so, try looking up your permit and see if the blueprints are there. 600 sq ft is a decent size pool in my opinion (that's how big mine will be) so if it seems small, I don't blame you for wanting to check it but if you've already paid in full, you'll probably will have a hard time getting any money back from the PB. :(
