Brand new Master Spa hot tub - cloudy water. Is the "Eco Pur" charge filter just marketing?

So I bought a new hot tub - Balance 7 Hot Tub Model from Clarity Spas

The sales guy kept going on about how the "Eco Pur" charge filter would reduce chemical usage and maintenance, and how he "only adds a capfull of shock once a week" in his personal tub, yada yada yada. I was a bit skeptical but all the marketing materials do seem to say largely the same thing.

Fast forward to opening the hot tub for the first time. I balanced all the chems on the initial fill and gave it a good up-front shocking. Used it once and a couple days later it was already cloudy. Using a single capfull of shock didn't really do anything, so I basically went the SLAM route and got the PPM up to 20 or so and held it there for a few days. Water cleared up and I let the PPM drop back down. A week later, with NO USE, the water is cloudy again. Do I need to get one of those little floating chlorine dispensers? the sales guy literally said "one of the nice things about the Eco Pur filter system is you won't need one of those floating chlorinators anymore"... lies?

Wondering if anyone here has any experience with a Master Spa tub with one of those filters - does it do anything at all?

Side note: I also have a pool which requires almost no maintenance. keep the salt level in check and my CG keeps the water crystal clear. occasionally I need to add baking soda or acid, but that's usually once or twice a season. So I'm coming from an almost 0 maintenance pool to what is starting to feel like a high maintenance hot tub.

You got sold a bunch of marketing BS.

Master spa carefully says the Eco Pur filter "purifies" the water and does not say it helps sanitize the water in any way.

Give your new spa a biofilm cleanout with Ahhsome then sanitize the water using chlorine...

yeah, I think using "purifies" in quotes is probably the right idea. What does "purify" even mean? I'm fairly certain I'm not going to bother replacing the "eco pur" cartridge once the existing one reaches the end of its 6 month life. Save myself the $$ and instead buy cheaper off-brand cartridge filters instead. I'm also very seriously considering going with a SWCG setup since I've had so much good luck with it in my pool. I heard (again, from the master spa sales people) that salt water can be rough on hot tubs because the temperature adds to the corrosive nature of the salt - but I've read other people on this forum having success with something like this: ControlOMatic Saltwater Chlorine Generators

@RDspaguy has posted about his experience with SWCG and hot tubs.

@Jimrahbe has had good experince with a SWG in his hot tub.

a high maintenance hot tub.
The only kind there is.😉
Eco-pur filters are basically a mineral purifier (such as nature2 or spa frog) in a filter. I do like minerals as a backup/helper for chlorine/bromine, but you still need one of them, or mps which I don't recommend.
Use ahhsome, you'd be shocked at what's growing in the pipes of your new spa.
