Best Pool Camera for Safety

I have 15 Blink cameras and have had them for two years. It is a very basic camera system but we have had no issues with them. No cloud fees, wireless and dependable. Your clips are stored on a sync module in your home. I was very thankful we had them when this happened this spring. The motion alerts worked perfectly when this happened. They work with Alexa As well.
Wow, what happened?
Blink cameras are on sale today with Prime day so might get one.

Our pool excavation starts in 2 weeks, so I preemptively installed a ring floodlight cam on the side of our garage, which will overlook the pool (we have an odd property and our pool is going in our wedge shaped side yard). No complaints here.

Thanks for letting us know. Stop back after a while with some follow-up if you can. You will enjoy the added visibility of your property for sure.

Talk about a slippery slope! Security cameras, like most tech, has it's own world! IMHO the key factors to remember:
  1. Really be honest in thinking about how you will use this. I.e. really want an auto notification if something "moves" around your pool area or you just like the ability to look at your phone and see a live view of what's going on by your pool. It matters because like all things you'll find there are compromises. And yes you'll always find some techie who claims they have it all and it was simple and it never hiccups!
  2. Cost you can spend $15 on a Wyze cam (when on sale), put in a micro sd card and be done with no subscription fees. Or you can spend thousands on color night view cams with NVR/DVR storage, sophisticated AI software to see/review/monitor, etc.
  3. How much time do you want to REALLY spend on this. Basic install / config time or anybody "can" become an expert.
  4. Regardless of cost or time, there will be hiccups. From "simple" restart the app or power on/off device to "how do I stop getting alerts every time a cloud casts a shadow on my pool"
Personally I went with Wyze cams and so far pretty good although the the techie in me will probably eventually start spending more money on the latest greatest "real" security cameras
