Our in ground fiberglass 16x32 pool is 7ish years old and I have 2 years in the pool cover. It is an “automatic pool covers” system. My local guy estimated $3500. I think I can patch and get till next spring. I am pretty handy and expect I could replace the cover myself.

Are there any reputable companies to buy the fabric and ropes from? Tips or tricks for selecting material/color or installation?

Thanks for the help!
Chris

Chris, what has happened to your cover that its requiring work 2 yrs past installation?

I have these links but have not purchased from them before-

What kind of cover do you have? I have a Coverstar and mine came with some patch materials. If you didn't get one maybe see if the installer has some first before buying anything.

Patching is an easy DIY job. Replacing the whole fabric, IMHO, is not a DIY job. I've watched the pros do it, and I'll leave it to them.

If you haven't patched before and want some tips, let me know & I'll provide some.

Just to follow up on my cover story. I successfully patched the tear with glue, vinyl, and stitching. While doing it I knew it wouldn’t last long, the cover was super thin and crunchy in the “sunny corner”.

After spending about 3 hours with my wife patching it ripped 2 days later.

Called my local guy, he measured the pool and was willing to get me a genuine APC cover part only. About half price!

Install was actually pretty easy. Took me 4 hours about half was alone and half with a helper. That included cleaning out the box, doing some assorted PM. Worst part was that it was 88f out!

YouTube for the win. Appreciate the support y’all!
