Hello everyone, for a while now I have been trying to make the switch to a salt water system and my wife tried to surprise me an bought me a used AquaNature system with a T5 cell. Problem is we have an in-ground pool . So here is my dilemma, not sure what the actual difference is between these two other than Hayward saying they are different, and I saw some old thread from a member saying he was using it. I did find an old Aquarite goldline controller (2009 model) for 80$ that i could buy but this unit is 2 years old, so I am conflicted. Also of note is that this unit does not seem to have a flow switch (RJ-X300 model).

My pool is irregular and I believe it to be around 18k gallons, I typically run my pump 24h and we live in Montreal Canada.

Any advice or guidance would be welcome. Thanks

The t5 is an 18-20k gal rated cell - this means the max fc it can produce in your pool is around 4.7ppm if run at 100% around the clock.
You really need a larger cell- t15 (40k gal rated) so you don’t have to run it at 100% all the time giving it a shorter life in people years.
With the aquatrol you must install a jumper if you wish to use a larger cell.
I would go with the newest unit & plan to buy a t15 cell soon.

An inground pool must use a flow switch with the Aquarite cell. The Aquatrol control panel does not support a flow switch and cannot be used.

The cell can be used with an Aquarite control panel and flow switch.

Buying used Aquarite equipment is risky as they often develop quirky problems as they age.

Ran an aquatrol on my Inground pool for over 20 years. The RJ model does not have a flow switch. The HP does. I converted my aquatrol into an aquarite just by changing the main board and can use any cell they offer as my pool is not that large. The aquarite has a phone jack for the flow switch. The t-5 cells are harder to find aftermarket cells. I run a aftermarket t-15 cell at 20 percent making cell last way longer.

Main difference is aquatrol board has wire for the pump power plug where aquarite doesn’t have it and undated software. Way cheaper main board (aftermarket) then the aquatrol.
