Anyone with experience with Maricopa County pool barrier code?

I hope this is the most proper forum for this. Getting close and closer to inspection...

Quoted form the code...

If a building wall comprises part of the pool barrier and the subject wall contains doors or windows providing direct access to the pool, a separate barrier must be installed between the house and pool. The Building Official may approve the substitution of a self-closing, self-latching device with a release mechanism at least 54” above the ground or an alarm that sounds continuously for a minimum of 30 seconds at a level of not less than 85 decibels within 7 seconds of the door being opened. j. A window facing a pool enclosure must be equipped with a mesh screen and lock and key that restricts opening the window to no more than 4”, or a latching device at least 54” above the floor. The same protection must be provided for doggie doors or other openings.

I've got 3 doors and tons of sliding windows with a mesh screen. Doors have regular height door knobs and deadbolts and do not self close.

Path of least resistance tells me I want to get alarms that meet the code and those key window locks that will stop all the windows from opening more than 4 inches.

But I have no experience with this and concerned about the "Building Official may approve..."

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Wow this is ridiculous. MD has rules where if the house is one side each egress point to the pool must have an audible signal. My existing home alarm chime fit the bill for the inspector.

Many places have a similar code and everybody gets a bunch of alarms.

For the windows, I'd cut 1x1 (?) wood strips, paint them to match the trim and velcro them so that the sliding part of the window couldn't move at all. Being permanently locked should appease the inspector to move onto something else.

Alarm the doors. I used double sided tape for mine so I didn't have sink screws into a brand new $6k door.

Hmm, I would have pegged you as a gate supporter. ;)
