Anyone tried a Nidec Neptune VS upgrade motor?

I have an old Pentair Superflo with a 1.5hp single speed motor. A new VS Superflo is about 1300 but I see these Neptune motor upgrades. I have a SWG so I was interested in this having an aux power output as well as provisions for future automation with low voltage inputs. Problem that I can see is, the aux output for the SWG only comes on at 2100 rpm? Isnt this a little high? Also it looks like the pump only switches one leg of the 220v output, so I dont see how that would work. Would there be a downside for me to convert my RJ-30+ to 120? Do I need to change pump impellers for the 1.65hp neptune upgrade?

I guess my other option would be use a current sensing relay or keep the SWG on a timer. Do the VS timers keep the time if they lose power? I know my mechanical timer does not, but the new wifi one I installed does.

Makes no difference to the SWG if it is powered by 120V or 240V.

As long as motor HP is greater than impeller HP you are good.

Would be nice, not the way it works.

Yep. That is the limitation.

1/2 of 230 is 115.

Nope.

Nope, as @ajw22 said, as long as motor HP > Impeller HP, good to go.

I did the CSR. I love it. Timers do not.

Good read:

Thanks. I understand how a SWG works. I guess 2100 is better than 3450 all the time which is what I am doing now. I recently acquired a robot, and if I can bring it back to life and ditch my suction cleaner I think I might go for it. Is there any benefit to upsizing to a 2.25HP? Also, will 48Y bolt up to my 56Y Whisperflo flange? It seems so, but I read about some spacer.

I don't have automation, but the Neptune claims to have low voltage inputs for such a set up in the manual.

The relay opens or closes one leg of 220v not the most ideal, but allowable(one leg will remain hot at the load). As long as it’s square flange it will fit whisperflo. There is input switches that override the control panel and can be controlled by a series of relays. There is also a rs485 connector but I couldn’t find any documentation on the modbus.

The more I think of it, I am probably going to shell out for a new 3hp intelliflo3. This way I can use the app and cut the SWG on whenever I want.
The Intelliflow3 is a much more powerful pump than the SuperFlow and is a high-head pump, an excellent choice.
If you are satisfied with your pump now, the Nidec Neptune NPTQ165 would be a very good motor to use.
As far as using a separate timer, that works well, and with an electronic time clock as yours, the issue of a power outage causing a scheduling conflict is usually gone. Since an SWG won't come "on" if there is no flow, its not really a big issue except for no chlorine production until the problem is caught.
The auxiliary relay board is actually a separate piece of equipment that is now most often included in the price of the IF3, but not always, so be sure to check.
In use there won't be much difference between the two options, but the IF3 can definitely run slower and move the same amount of water.

Thanks. I ordered the 3hp Intelliflo and the relay circuit board so I can turn my SWG on and off. The built in Wi-Fi did it for me along with my existing pump being pretty old and ratty. Judging from the old strainer cover design its likely original. They sell the pump with the relay and/or touchscreen installed, but it was about 100 cheaper ordering them separately.
