Hi Guys,

Have not been able to find alot of info on this heater, wanted to see if anyone uses it. It's kind of my only option currently as we need to install the heater, propane tanks, have electricity run to it, etc and this is the only brand my propane company deals with. They are going to do the installation (including permits), get it, service it, etc. Seems expensive based on what I've seen but I am by far no expert and I am in NY so everything is expensive. Look forward to hearing what you guys think, thanks!

Why do you need to buy your heater from your propane company? Raypak, Pentair, Hayward, and Jandy all have propane gas pool heaters.

We have heard of a few of them being used.

Finding people who know how to repair them seems to be an issue as well as getting parts. I think if you get it from your propane company you will be locked into using them for service at whatever the cost.

Lochinvar makes some good heaters, there are a few in California that I have dealt with. The issue is, as ajw22 says, the cost of parts and the difficulty in getting them when something goes bad, which it will inevitably do at some point. If the propane company is the local repair service, you will be stuck using them. There has to be someone in your area that will install the more well-known brands and do everything the propane people will.

The reason I am considering the propane company is they would do everything from start to finish. Propane tanks, installing the piping, electrical, equipment, permits, etc. The one thing the guy said was that his warehouse/wholesaler has access to the Lochinvar parts and they would be able to service if needed. I know it kinda holds us hostage to them and their propane pricing but I haven't really found anyone else around me that can do that. I am worried about piecing the system together on our own, since there's alot to do to make it happen.
