Any thoughts on dreame Z1

You mean this….

It says Please Note: Shipment starts from Mar 1st.

What thoughts do you have about it?

@Katodude has tried a bunch of different robot cleaners.

I have a Dreame for the house, it does a very good job. No idea on the pool cleaner. Looking at the website for this device, it does not seem like it has any features that make me like it more than an Aiper S1 which is half the price.

You have to watch the different ads, they aren't really doing the best job showing what it has, its similar to the beatbox aquasense ultra I believe without some of the bells and whistles. It has the sensor to detect the main drain and in theory go around it, they have that in a video. In theory it scans the pool using sonar or something similar so it can map the pool and actually get every part.

I am not sure that mapping the pool makes a difference. A main drain is not really an obstacle that needs avoiding, the robot should just go over it. It’s not like a house robot that needs to avoid dog poop, or a charging cord. Any decent mapping pattern should get the entire pool, usually every section more than once.

It’s nice that it parks at the top of the pool, but does it stay there. That is a problem with the Beatbot it hangs out at the top of the pool when it’s done then 10 minutes later floats to the bottom of the pool.

The Dreame also avoids steps, in a higher priced robot I would want one that cleans the steps (sort of a holy grail for me). One that also has a clean spa mode would be nice.

Again it does not seem to have anything that would make enough of a difference to me.

You seem to have your heart set on this bot, so buy it. The other Dreame product I own is very good. I dont see any reason this one wont be any good.

Report back on what you think.

I would like to hear how long it stays docked at the top of the pool when it is finished?
Also how does it handle steps?

I likely will get it. The wybot I just had said it does steps, I've never had a robot actually do them cordless or corded. I will say that the wybot the 3 or so runs that it actually worked left my spa spotless when I ran it in there.

I just got the Dreame Z1 Pro as part of a review program and had my first chance to use it today. It's replacing my Polaris 280 since the pump seems to be on its way out. I've been running it for an hour so far, and it’s only been vacuuming the bottom (I'm assuming it's still mapping out the pool). Let me know if there’s anything specific you’d like to know.
According to the manual, it should stay at the top of the pool for five minutes before dropping down and remaining at the bottom in 'eco mode'—whatever that means. I’ll report back once it starts cleaning the walls, but so far, I’m loving how quiet it is compared to the Polaris pump - zero audible noise. It also picked up all the leaves that were sitting on the bottom.

Here's a vid of it sucking up two leaves: PXL_20250301_202222293.TS.mp4

Any more thoughts 2 weeks later?

Just got mine. So far really not impressed. It’s been stuck on one of the two drains half the cycle and the pump is off. I feel like I’m back in 2005 with no sensors on the robot. Still hasn’t mapped the pool. I got it for a really good price so I’m hoping maybe it’s just defective

I've got the non-Pro Z1 version. Have been using ~3 weeks. Going well for me, though a pretty straightforward 18'x40' rectangular with some stairs on one end. It's accurately mapped the pool, now avoids colliding with the two main drain bumps, and parks itself for 5 mins after it's done so you can retrieve it poolside if you're home. Otherwise, I've just used the hook to pull it out when it's done.

Won't say it's extraordinary but does look like a good replacement for a Polaris 280, for example. Would like to compare to the Beatbot Aquasense2 since that latter robot is a 2nd gen product (and Dreame Z1 is a 1st-gen).
