Air bubbles in suction side check valve

That is a pretty large pump so it will prime at a little higher elevation. But you are probably still near the limits of the pump. Normally, you shouldn't need 10-12 tries to prime a pump. In a properly designed system, it should prime the first time.

Not a check valve but a regular valve near the basin.

Try this:

1) Make sure the basin is close to 1/2 filled. It looks a little low in water which makes it that much harder to prime.
2) Close the manual valve right before the pump
3) Fill the pump basket with water until it overflows
4) Put the pump lid back on as tight as possible
5) Turn on the pump first and then immediately open the suction side valve
Ok. Thank you. I will give this a shot tomorrow with someone.

Well…no luck, unfortunately, with this.

What do you think about a suction side clog in the line? Maybe one of my daughter’s toys ended up getting sucked into the drain.

I am thinking the next step is to move this entire pump to a different line and see how it behaves…

That is definitely a possibility. Is there not a grate over the opening? You could try flushing water backwards with a hose in the pump basket inlet.

BTW, are you using two different logins?

There is a grate, but it is wide enough to stick your fingers inside.

I think what happened was I registered years ago here and forgot that I did. I am using one login, but I believe it allowed me to register like a new user with the same email address.
