Hello, my name is Ralph and I’m 46-years old who had a new pool put in about 14-months ago. The pool has a cartridge filter system and has approximately 11,400 gallons. I’ve been relying on the Sutro pool monitor for chemical readings and recommendations. The Sutro app use to recommend muriatic acid to keep the alkalinity in check, but hasn’t recommended any in the past month. I’ve noticed high levels of alkalinity and scaling along the water line. Anyways, thanks for letting me join and looking forward to any suggestions.

- Ralph

De La Rosa,

Welcome to TFP! Nice looking pool! We do things a little different here and I'm not familiar with the Sutro monitor but there are a lot of negative comments about it on here and other reviews. I'm sure one of our experts can chime in on this with more info. At TFP we don't sell anything so you can always trust you're getting unbiased advice. Here's a little background reading for you:
Pool Care Basics

If I were you I'd focus on getting known reliable test results using a recommended test kit (we don't sell them but we've tested a lot and these are known to work well). This is really required to use TFP methods. Here's some more reading that may help:
Test Kits Compared

Let's see what one of our chemistry guru's has to say about this. @JoyfulNoise - comments?
