Water is looking fantastic, overnight levels are holding and cc is where it needs to be. Before I officially close out my slam I need to know if this is black Algae or not. These spots only appear on the sun shelf and no where else. Thanks for all of the help! Pools been filled for less then a...

Algae is only visible when I sweep. I don’t know if that counts as visible or not. The water clouds up a bit after a sweep each morning. Pre sweep the water is fairly clear.

So I am nearing the end of my slam I hope. Water is getting fairly clear , I only see Algee or dead algee when I brush the sun shelf. Cc is between .5-1.0 next test will use the more precise measuring method. Overnight loss seems to be in a good place levels went up overnight instead of...

    Travertine type

We are picking out our deck. We have decided that it will be travertine. We have 2 choices sandblasted or honed. Really like the feel of the honed but worried about how slick it may become when it’s wet. Got some samples of sandblasted and they feel really gritty when you walk on the them...

Question - spa or no spa for new pool build?

The question is do you plan to have or want automation and do you want a heater. If the answer to those questions is yes. Get the spa . Most of the cost goes into those 2 items. The actual spa doesn’t add too much cost above those items. It also gives you a water feature from doing it to. So...

Please help evaluate a quote on a new gunite pool - Illinois

Depends on what is included. How much deck, what type of deck, tile options (glass or 6x6), and is propane included? I can tell you we are building a pool with 1550 sqft of travertine, a screen and its 10 feet smaller for about 20K less. One thing you need to consider is getting the 400K...

    How long should it take?

Just started with our dig. We were told at least 22 weeks. Pool builders are taking a beating right now trying to get supplies. Likely cause of the lengthy timeline

    Wood Burning Fire Pits

It would be pre fab non permeant, install. Probably a lot like what you are describing. Biggest fear is go to bed after a fire rains a bit over night and super stained deck in the morning.

    Wood Burning Fire Pits

So we are having and pool and screen enclosure built for us. We want to have a non permanent wood burning fire pit. It would be located on the deck, which will be travertine. I am wondering if a pit with drain holes will damage or discolor the deck if it were to rain in it. Would we need to take...

    LED waterfalls

Thanks for the pictures. It helps to see a real install and not a crazy marketing video when they surround the waterfalls with fire bowls.

    LED waterfalls

We currently have 2 18 inch sheer decent waterfalls in our pool design. Thinking about switching those out for some Color changing led waterfalls Led water falls Cost is not much more so we are wondering if these are worth it for adding extra light to the pool or more of a party trick.

Central Florida Build need some help picking options

I think color changing sheers. We considered Magic bowls but were a bit worried kids might try and do some crazy stuff with them sitting on deck level.

Central Florida Build need some help picking options

We are just about to start the build process. Some work stuff delayed us. We are going with color changing waterfalls. Fire Bowls sounded fantastic but each one, with out water was $2500 plus gas hookup and the need for a propane tank. If we wanted water they were $5000 each. Far too expensive...

    New Pool in Orlando

Price seems like what would be expected. Keep in mind with the propane heater you will need to either rent or buy a propane tank plus pay separate for hookup. Most builders told us it is about a wash with the cost of an electric heater but be ready. Also need to think about cost of upgrades at...

Weber summit series might be the answer. They are super dependable long lasting frills.

Assuming that grass by the pool would be fake? If so be warned it gets crazy hot in Florida. Like unbearable to put your foot on durning the summer.

Adding Tile After Pebble Tec an Issue?

If the builder screwed up it is their liability to fix it. Those tiles are not just for looks they also provide safety elements. I would talk to your builder about your concerns and make sure they fix it for you.

    Pool/Spa Heating gas or electric

We are in the process of finalizing a pool contract with a spa, in Orlando. Trying to figure out if we should put a gas or electric heater in. Big questions I have: If we put in a 400K gas heater with a 100 pound propane tank, how may hours of heating can we expect to get? What kind of a life...

What’s an appropriate upcharge for Pebble Sheen Ocean Blue ?

For level 1 pebble finish from non pebble it was 6.50 per sqft Level 2 was 8.50 per sq foot I think level 3 was 10.50 or 12.50 so that seems high or they are giving you pricing to go from quartz to level 3 pebble

    Reasonable price to add automation?

We are in the process of biding for a pool right now and our cost for automation using an RS8 is 3K above the base automation price, which is included in the spa price. Its not cheap but very nice to have. You basically never have to go out to the pad to do anything besides clean. I would say go...

HELP! We're buying a house in MD and we're not sure if we should buy a place with a pool or build one.

It depends on where you live and what you want in your house/outdoor space. When we bought our home 5 years ago we could not find a house that met our needs with a pool. Every home with a pool was crammed into the lot with 0 entertainment space or room for expansion. So we bought a house with a...

Best approach with PB's for competitive bid

WE took the approach of telling the builder the major things and non-negotiable items. So we told them we want a fairly large swim lane, freeform pool, over flow horse shoe shaped spa, large deck, screen, and as much automation as possible.. The spa was added after another builder did it and we...
