I don’t have any valves in my plumbing. Should I install any? If so, what advantages are there to having 3-way valves on your return and/or pressure lines?

Please post pics of your setup. Having no valves seems incredibly odd.

I also want to add a waste water line but I’m not sure where I could do that. I’ve read a few posts about putting a T balve between the pump and filter, but I have the thing that removes metal from the water there. I’ve also read a post where someone put a T valve where the filter drain plug is and ran the waste water line that way.

BV,

Where do the two pipes in front of the pump go??

I assume you have two skimmers, is that true?

I see no reason to add a valve to your return side plumbing..

If you want to be able to send water to waste, then you would need to add a Jandy valve between the pump and the filter.

Thanks,

Jim R.

The two pipes in front of the pump are coming from the pool inlet ports. 2 skimmers. How would I add the Jandy valve with the metal remover thing there?

BV,

The 'metal thing' is really more to make you feel good, more than anything else...

We do not believe that they actually do anything useful..

But, to add a Jandy valve, you are going to have to modify the plumbing, so there is no reason you can't modify the plumbing to have both the metal thing, and a Jandy 3-way valve.

If you wanted, you could add a 3-way Jandy valve, in place of the 'T' that is now in front of your pump. This would allow you to send more suction the the far skimmer and a little less suction to the near skimmer. I personally don't think it would be worth the effort.

Thanks,

Jim R.
