So this happened

Water based products never work, especially outdoors.

Minwax Helmsman Water Based Spar Urethane is not a good choice.

Something like Rust-Oleum Marine Coatings Spar Varnish Gloss Clear Oil-based Marine Varnish would be a better choice.

You should avoid anything that says water based or "Low VOC".

Decide you want a few planks for whatever project and watch what happens. Go on. I'll wait.
:epds:
Lol! Nope! Got to save for vacation! Going to be a while! Besides my next project will need to use pressure treated, and I want to wait till it’s cooler out :)

Got a call that the cement guys are scheduled for Aug 4th and then the patio guy needs a week or so to do his thing. Then with no more yard disturbances planned I can rent a trencher and get the sprinklers running again. It's pained me to wait but they will be moving a good deal of dirt around for the patio and you just KNOW they'd find my brand new irrigation pipes if I laid them already. But. Soon.

Are you using the pool?
Oh yeah. It's a mess of dirt soup from
blowing in on windy days, but that's just cosmetic.
And I hate crab grass!!
I hate it when it overtakes my regular grass. But in this instance, it's helping to keep the dust down, so woohoo.

Today was diving board day. I glanced over the stand after work and I could tell all 4 pipes were off from each other and the pool but it seemed close so I let it be. Wouldn't you know it that 20 mins later my curiosity got the best of me so I went out and threw the board on. (Left off while the stand cement dried)

The front one is 3.5 inches off center

The back one is this far out of level, twisting the board.

So I thought I would be nice and pulled them before the concrete set. I had been assured they were bonded, but wouldn't you know it..... no such wires found.

Let's get another pool she said. :ROFLMAO:

We started looking at the 20 year old plank steps to the house and how out of place they'd look with a fancy patio and brand new 6 ft French doors. I could have replaced the lumber but they would have been basic at best. You can't take it with you, right ?
