Jandy 1400c Not working with Aqualink

Hi,

When connected to Aqualink the new 1400c cell will not come on and always shows 0% even if I set it to 100% with the PDA. When I put the pool in service mode and set the 1400c to 100% the cell comes on with flow and everything appears to function properly. I read that if the water temperature (which is showing outside on the control panel) is not sending to the Aqualink it will not engage the cell. This sounds like a board is bad. I also saw a thread that shows the red terminal I could unplug but I think this means that Aqualink will not work at all.

Is there a way (specific wire) to disconnect Aqualink from the 1400c without disconnecting the other programs and functions? I'm fine with setting it manually outside but I would like the other pool programming functions.

Also, the manual is ambiguous on the direction of the three prong connector. In one picture it shows the cord pointing toward the flow direction and in another in the other direction. Which way is right?

Thanks,
Doug

It doesn't matter what way you plug in the connector. The AquaPure can be disconnected from Aqualink by removing the 4-wire connector inside the Aqualink panel. It also has its own temperature sensor. What is the "red" terminal?

Can you post some pics of the settings?

The post I saw said remove this red terminal, but it seems like it would disable the PDA (handheld remote).

I don't have anything like the image you show. I have a handheld remote only. I don't have a spa. If I set Pool to any number including 100% from the PDA The cell never shows to be on at the panel. Only power and flow. If I put the panel in service mode and set the chlorine level manually the cell comes on.

Also if I boost from the PDA it will show boost mode "bo" at the panel but again the cell on light never illuminates. The PDA is working with all other pool functions and programs but It will not engage Aquapure (nothing about this anywhere else or in the manual that I can find). I can't remember where but a post said that if the Aqualink cannot receive a pool temperature it will not engage Aquapure. I can see the temperature at the board so I know the sensor is working but I can't find the pool temperature on the PDA.

AH ok sorry you have Aqualink PDA. What does your PDA say? That red connector is that 4-wire connecter on the right side of the picture you posted. You can disconnect it at either end. It should just pull out so you can let it hang for testing.

I don't know where you are seeing it. The swg has its own temp probe. So if you are seeing it in the swg lcd panel it isn't aqualink. That could explain why it won't allow the swg to operate.

Normally with a bad temp sensor you'll see "open" displayed on the PDA. With you seeing nothing that's odd. Check and reseat the temp plug. And if that doesn't work switch the air and water temp probes.

I have iAquaLink rather than the PDA, so can't help much. But the blurb about needing the AquaLink RS water temp sensor to work, else it won't talk to AquaPure is here. It looks like this is the root cause. Need to get a water temp showing. Here's a related thread.

I installed a new temperature sensor and everything is working. The pool temperature shows on the pda and the gen is working. The pool repair guy said I needed to replace the swg when replacing the sensor probably would have fixed it. I was going to have him change it out until I realized he wanted a $400 markup and I bought the 1400c on Amazon and did it myself. It's pretty easy to install. The hardest part is getting to the board to replace the 1400c sensor but that isn't really that bad. Just make sure the breakers are off and follow instructions.
