My plumbing...not sure of proper settings

This is how its plumbed. It is labled like this according to previous oowner. I don't use a pool vac/sweep, (use a robot now) so it would be nice to be able to turn off that valve. I assume the "flap" over the inlet in pool serves same purpose? This pool was built in 1992.

My plumbing...not sure of proper settings

I have attached a drawing of my suction side plumbing layout. The only pipe I am sure of is the spa inlet. The other three I am assuming are as labled. I can't figure out why it's plumbed this way and what the roptions would be for adjusting the 2 Jandy valves show on the left.

Gray sand on the bottom of my pool

Could it be ash from the fires? I had quite a bit in my pool. It did look like gray sand where it would gather. Made a "puff" like algee, but gray when hit with the brush.

Poolvergnuegen Pool Cleaner low wheel RPM

I can only get 7 wheel rpm's out of my pool cleaner. Yesterday I tried turning the pump to 3000+ RPM (quick clean on a Intelliflo pump), and completly closed skimmer line (main drain is always closed). This is using the vac port on side of pool. The cleaner only cleans about an 8 foot diameter...

    Minor Alge "cloud" when brushing

I brush the pool side and bottom at least once a week, usually more. If I wait 4 days or so what I get when I brush is a slight alge cloud . I bough a vacume head with brushes so that when I brush it would go straing to filter, but the vacume head I bought is next to imposible to push on the...

    Transformer noise

Likely halogen then. Not sure about the warm up, as usually the light comes on as soon as the switch is flipped. If transformer not likely the problem, what could cause the light to not come on? (actually it didn't come on only one evening and I tried flipping the switch a few times in the...

    Transformer noise

I don't use the lights often but, I was / am having trouble with the pool light. When switched on, there was a hesitation before the light came on. Then the hesitation went away. Then the light didn't come on at all. I was going to call for service and went to check again. Now the pool light...

    CYA still high

I'll test again just to make sure................Just ran the test with the Pentair CYA test kit. Mixed 1/2 pool water with 1/2 tap water. CYA reading was 90-100. So double that and I have 180 -200.

    CYA still high

Recently purchased house with pool. Kept on the pool guy previous owner had. Never noticed him testing pool water. He come, brush the sides and add some chlorine tabs. Not sure how many years this went one before I bought. Apparently a long time. Anyway......he is now history. I tested the water...
