Looking for the best type of return jets. I'm frustrated with the ones I have which don't seem to have precision adjustability and therefore not having an optimal skimmer effect.

Thanks.

Whatever your problem is, different return jets will not improve your surface skimming. Especially if you run your VS pump low and slow.

My biggest issue is when I position them where they need to be it isn't fully tighten as they lack adjustability so they easily move either by itself or easily by someone in the pool.

TW,

Just to make sure...

Do you know if your skimmers have weir doors?? I ask because we have seen several cases where the pool builder actually removed them on new pool installs..

Missing weir doors on older pools is one of the main causes of poor skimmer operation.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Yes, I do have the weir door on mine.

I just don't want to make one full turn and crack the housing to get it at the right angle hence looking for one that can tighten to housing but still has a way to adjust the nozzle.

Are they the standard issue ones ?

Welp i might as well explain it either way because it frustrates me to this day and others will be finding this now too.

Take it apart and lube the eyeball. That helps alot. Then it's frustrating trial and error because tightening it the last bit also moves the eyeball. So it needs to be almost snug where the eyeball still moves with some effort, then pointed about 1/4 turn 'early' so that when it rotates with the cap it lands where you wanted.

Use a screwdriver handle to adjust the eyeball.

Put the handle in the eyeball and you have a lever to point it.

Ok, I was following this gentleman terminology.

You should ask him how to achieve what he advocates.

Winds are the primary way surface debris moves. Skimmers should be facing the prevailing winds. You then need to run your pump speed high enough so that debris that gets near the skimmer mouth gets sucked in.

Skimmers do more pulling than returns do pushing.

The way the returns point have little to do with that movement.
