NJ, travertine coping has some pieces broke off and almost all are hollow. 12 years old, I don't believe mastic was used between deck, also travertine, and travertine coping. Can this be repaired without replacing tile line? Any rec's for someone good in NJ, Ocean County. Willing to move on from the trav coping but if a reinstall is possible using existing coping (6x12) then I would love to do that.

If by no mastic you mean the lack of an expansion joint then, yes, that can lossen and break tiles.

The cracked coping stones can be replaced by a mason without affecting the tile as long as the tiles are intact and in good shape.
They are for the most part, I think 1/2 of one is chipped off near the skimmer but other than that fine. So a good mason is the one to call vs a pool expert? Should I be concerned about the lack of mastic between coping and pool deck? Also, from inside the pool where the tile meets the underside of the coping the grout (or whatever is used) looks like it could use a touch up.
My pool co, the one I use to open/close doesn't do reno's but said the tiles would likely be damaged when removing and cleaning the area under the coping so they said I would likely need new tiles and coping.
Just want it done right so I don't have to worry about it for a bit. I would need to procure some new coping to replace the broken ones as well.

Find a good mason and let him evaluate your situation. You may have to drain the pool for him to work in it. I believe a mason knows a lot more about stonework than most "pool experts".
Mortar is used to fix stones together. I see some remnants of mortar on the bond beam but a thick buildup of mortar was not used since you had thick coping stones.
The tiles should not be damaged if the mason works carefully.
Once new coping is put down, the area between the coping stone and tile can be grouted and any chips filled in.

I appreciate the info. How long can the pool be drained before the plaster (quartz) dries out?

How old is the plaster?
A plaster pool can sit drained for weeks. Your risk is not the plaster but underground water popping the pool shell out of the ground.
