Picking a vinyl liner. Liner stock questions?

I am having a pool built soon. 18x36 with tanning ledge and a couple benches off the tanning ledge. I have a couple liners I’m leaning toward, they are Latham Reef and Latham Terrazzo Caribbean. I have read some things that say it’s best to have a darker back on the liner. I believe the Terrazzo is printed on blue. I believe the Reef is on white. I really like the Reef and the water color but I am fearful of the white back not aging as well. Is this a big deal?

Here is a thread we put together to show off different liner colors. I hope this helps a bit.

So I've had one of each liner. My white material liner fared really well with moderate shade. My blue material liner is fading fast in a wide open yard. Time will tell how long the pattern lasts, but at least I should theoretically still have a blue pool when the ink is gone.

If your yard has some shade to slow down the harsh southern UV, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I have very little shade. Maybe I should go with the Terrazzo Caribbean due to its printed on blue.

Very timely topic ..
Just replaced my white liner with a blue liner, both Latham. The white background version was 13 years old and you can see very little to no patterns remain. I would stick to the blue version. There was no leaks or anything with the old liner, it was starting to pull out of the coping...and it was just plain wore out.

TFP water probably gives you your best chances either way.

Dump and pray never ends will.
Thank you! I am sure you’re very right. Taking proper steps to ensure your pool chemistry is right is bound to help with liner fading. I’m sure with time and lots of sunshine all will eventually fade. I guess as the ink fades I would prefer a blue pool vs a white pool. Hopefully I will do an excellent job with pool water quality. I want to do my part in extending the fade time as much as possible.
