How Do You Decorate Your Pool for Christmas? 🎄

Hi everyone!

With Christmas coming up, I’m looking for ways to add some festive cheer to my pool area. Although it's too cold to use the pool in winter, I’d still love to make the space feel extra special for the holidays.

What do you all do to decorate your pools for Christmas? Do you use lights or floating decorations?

Looking forward to your ideas.

I actually put lights around my pool deck most years.

There are easy to hang, there is an outlet right there, and I can see them from my house, so I get to enjoy them as opposed to the lights on the front of my house that I cannot see from the inside.

This year however, I did not put any up. Time seems to have got away from me this season, with Thanksgiving coming late in November, a weekend trip to see my daughter, fighting with the "mystery drain", etc. We did not even get a tree until just this past weekend.

I’ve always loved hanging lights on my deck too—it’s such a simple way to make the space feel magical.

This Christmas, I wrapped string lights around the palm trees near my pool, and they just glow so beautifully at night. I also hung a poolside wreath on the fence—added some waterproof ribbons and a few little ornaments to give it a festive touch. It’s simple, but it brings a lot of cheer to the space.

I don't actually decorate for Christmas, these lights are permanent. But between the giant evergreen "Christmas" tree, and the white string lights around the fence, I'd say it's pretty christmasy.

Thanks! I should get inspired some Holiday Season and string lights on that tree. I'd have a perfect view of it from my bed, including the reflection off the pool. I'd see it from my living room, too. Like someone else mentioned, I'd get more enjoyment from lights in my back yard than the ones I decorate with in the front yard. I only see those when I'm pulling into my garage. My street is pretty grinchy. Nobody (but me) strings lights. There's a couple of blowups, and one of those projector thingies stuck in someone's lawn. That's it.

Thank you! The grandkids noticed as well as we were having Christmas dinner and they had to go out to see the reflections. I love decorating outside and my wife loves doing the inside once I get our 9' tree assembled each year. (That and the train that runs across the kitchen cabinets.) This tree is 60+ inches around and is 22 years old. People still think it's a real tree. Even 22 years ago, long before LED lights, it cost us $900 but it has been money well spent. I replace about 40-75 of the 1600 bulbs every year as they burn out.
