Pump/motors replacement, retail vs online

Im looking at buying a century 1.5hp square flange pool pump motor.
I inquired about it in store and was told the ones sold online are inferior compared to the ones sold in store.
The in store is nearly 40% higher than the online one.
Is there any truth to this matter?

The pump in question is a Hayward Max-Flo 2 1.5 HP. Model# C48D43A04.

At the same time, if im better off just buy a whole new pump/motor assembly, im open to that too.

No. But there are unscrupulous online sellers who resell defective pumps and motors that have been returned. Buy from a reputable online retailer.

When you replace the motor you need to get the seal kit and replace the seals.

Thanks for the reply, The store did tell me about replacing the seals, I was also wonder if bearings or anything might be worth replacing if I tear the pump apart?

While I was definitely open to a new pump entirely. I honestly cant make heads or tails of the market. What pumps are actually being made and which are discontinued. Seems like there is a shortage of them.

If all else is good, it would be better if you were to get this motor, a V-Green EVO 2.25 that will work with your existing timeclock. You would then have a VSP. Still need the shaft seal and it would probably be good to replace the body gasket.
