Waterway 22”sand filter leaking out backwash

Check and make sure you have the correct gasket and that it is seated correctly. Make sure all the o-rings are good. Only turn the valve one direction and never turn it when the pump is on.

Double check there's not even one grain of sand in the channels and that it didn't get moved and pinched when you clamped it back down. Happens to us more often than we have patience for!

FWIW, we always add a ball valve on the backwash lines because inside the multiport the backwash is 1.5mm worth of rubber ribbing away from the filter port.

Ball valve will keep all the water where it needs to stay and provided your gasket isn't failing into the recirculate port, you'd be fine to literally just do that.
